7 Reasons to Visit The Museum of Nature And Science In Denver

If you’re planning a trip to Denver, visiting the Museum of Nature and Science is an absolute must, especially when travelling with kids.

Situated in the City Park, the Museum of Nature & Science is home to more than a million objects of historic and scientific value, and is divided into fascinating worlds, including a planetarium.

When looking for entertainment in Denver CO, the Museum of Nature and Science is worth visiting. Here are 7 reasons why.

Space Odyssey

The Space Odyssey is one of the most popular attractions in the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, especially among those curious to gain insight into the secrets of the universe. The moment you enter the Space Odyssey, you find yourself surrounded by multiple fascinating galaxies.

You can also participate in the experiments performed by museum scientists and learn interesting facts about different planets.

The Space Odyssey also provides entertainment in the form of virtual reality games. After exploring the space area, you can spend some time playing amazing games with your family or friends, entering an entirely new virtual world.

Discovery Zone

The discovery zone is another area worth visiting, especially if you’re visiting with children. It’s designed for children to get an idea of how Earth looked like two million years ago, and there are multiple areas for entertainment such as Wildlife halls, Camp PaleoPals, Tykes Peak, and AstroTot training (and kids are greeted by an enormous T-rex dinosaur!).

At Wildlife halls, there are numerous statues of wild animals and sea mammals, designed to help children learn about animal life. At the camp PaleoPals, kids can learn about evolution through puppet games, books, and puzzles. Those kids eager to travel to space can try AstroTot Training by riding a shuttle. Furthermore, there is an area covered in sand where kids play with fossils, as well as a cave, which is ideal for taking photographs.

Prehistoric Journey

After exploring the discovery zone, take the prehistoric journey back to the era of dinosaurs. This area is one of the largest in the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, where you can see a huge collection of dinosaurs of various sizes and different origins.

Here you can learn about the formation of Earth and climate change throughout history, and examine fossils and plants. It’s a rare chance for individuals to travel back to three billion years ago in history, surrounded by dragonflies, centipedes, and giant dinosaurs.

Gems and minerals

If you love archaeology, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science is home to countless minerals and gems. Not only can you see a myriad of sparkling diamonds, but you also get to touch them. It’s a unique opportunity to see rhodochorosite crystals, aquamarine, diamonds, gold, stalactites, silver, topaz, etc.

In addition, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of a diamond cave, consisting of gems and minerals from all corners of the globe.Gem collectors and archaeologists would be especially fascinated by this impressive attraction.

Egyptian mummies

Another attraction worth exploring in the Museum of Nature & Science in Denver is the Egyptian mummies. Those who have seen “The Mummy” would be thrilled to learn that you get unwrap and analyze a mummy.

Apart from an original Egyptian mummy, you also have the opportunity to see animal mummies.

The museum has a special area dedicated to North American Indian cultures, where you are provided with a unique chance to gain an insight into the food, shelters, clothes, and lifestyle of native Americans through captivating stories and videos.

IMAX Theater

After exploring all of the attractions in the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, you can enjoy a movie in the large IMAX Theater.

The theater features numerous educational movies, for children and adults. The visit to the IMAX Theater isn’t included in the ticket for entering the museum.
